Litigation Media Coverage Omits Key Facts

(November 23, 2010) – Some recent coverage of the litigation involving Doe Run Peru has omitted key facts about the situation.  The truth is that the company has gone to extra lengths, devoting in excess of $400 million to environmental and facility improvements, as well as implementing a wide variety of community outreach programs.  But the government of Peru, meanwhile, has entirely failed in its promise to clean up the contamination that occurred on its watch.  The link to key facts on this page details those specifics and it is clear the government must act swiftly to take responsibility.  Although it's not surprising that plaintiff's lawyers would try to take advantage by distorting those facts and misleading the press, their case is misguided and so are their irresponsible public remarks.
